Release
[edit]Green Bones was theatrically premiered in cinemas in the Philippines on December 25, 2024, at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival.[4] GMA Pictures signed a distribution deal with American film company Columbia Pictures (through the Sony Pictures Releasing International label) to distribute the film.[1]Green Bones started with 44 cinemas and saw a dramatic rise in screenings — from 60 cinemas one day before the Gabi ng Parangal on December 27, 2024, to an impressive 180 cinemas to date.[16] As of January 3, 2025, due to demand from moviegoers, Green Bones is now showing in over 170 locations and more than 180 cinemas.[17]Originally, the film ranked 4th and 5th in box office sales among all MMFF entries.[18] However, on December 30, 2024, Annette Gozon shared on Facebook that the news reported Green Bones has jumped to 2nd and 3rd place in the MMFF box office rankings, while other films like Isang Himala, My Future You and Hold Me Close were pulled out from major cinemas [19] [20][21][22] The ongoing cinema expansion for Green Bones indicates that it is one of the top box office movies of 2024, alongside And the Breadwinner Is.... [23]
The film also scheduled to premiere at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) in Los Angeles on January 30, 2025.[24]
