General elections were held in Spain on 8 March 1871 to elect the 391 members of the Congress of Deputies. The Progressive-Liberal coalition won the elections.

Background

The elections were held under universal male suffrage following the promulgation of the 1869 constitution. They were also the first held during the brief reign of Amadeo I. Francisco Serrano, a member of the Liberal Union (part of the ProgressiveLiberal coalition), was the prime minister before the elections.
