The 2028 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifiers will determine the AFC's representatives for the women's football tournament at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. This edition introduces a streamlined qualification process, replacing the previous three-round standalone format with a single-stage competition following the completion of the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup.
Format
[edit]The qualifiers will feature the top eight finishers (quarter-finalists) from the preceding 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup. These teams will compete for two spots at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament. [1]
Competition Format
[edit]- The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four.
- Each group will play in a round-robin, home-and-away league format.
- The winners of each group will secure qualification for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
According to AFC this new format reduces the number of qualification stages while maintaining a high level of competition.
Qualified Teams
[edit]The following teams will participate in the 2028 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifiers, based on their performance in the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup (teams are placeholders until the actual tournament is completed):
