Dayon Hayes (born August 26, 2001) is an American football defensive end for the Texas A&M Aggies. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Colorado Buffaloes.

Early life and high school

Hayes attended Westinghouse High School located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Coming out of high school, Hayes was rated as a four-star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.[2][3]

During Hayes first collegiate game in week one of the 2020 season, he notched two sacks and forced fumble, as he helped Pittsburgh to a 55-0 win over the Austin Peay Govenors.[4] In Hayes's first three collegiate seasons in 2020, 2021, and 2022, he totaled 36 tackles with 16 being for a loss, eight sacks, a pass deflection, and a forced fumble in 27 games for the Panthers.[5][6][7][8] During the 2023 season, Hayes played in all 12 games with 11 starts for the Panthers, where he notched 45 tackles with 11 being for a loss, four sacks, four pass deflections, and a forced fumble.[9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Hayes decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal due to NIL issues with Pittsburgh.[10][11]

Colorado

Hayes decided to transfer to play for the Colorado Buffaloes.[12][13] In week three of the 2024 season, Hayes notched two and a half tackles for a loss, and two sacks, as he helped the Buffaloes to a win over rival Colorado State.[14]

On December 10, 2024, Hayes announced that he would enter the transfer portal for the second time.[15]
