Diana Monserrat Vicezar Torres (born 2000/2001[1]) is a Paraguayan computer scientist, digital entrepreneur and community activist, who is the first Paraguayan to hold an internship at Meta. She is the recipient of an Asuncion Youth Excellence Award, Global Teen Leader Award, Diana Award and Outstanding Young People of Paraguay Award.

Career

[edit]

In 2017, aged 16,[1] Vicezar established Mymba Rayhu, a community-based organisation designed to tackle elements of the sustainability and animal welfare.[2] Paraguay has a large issue with abandoned dogs, as well as plastic pollution, so Vicezar established Mymba Rayhu to build shelter for these free-ranging dogs using wholly recycled materials, especially plastics.[2] By 2019 it had three international chapters, and had worked with 1000 people.[1]

Vicezar established Mapis an online career platform, whilst she was a student at Pitzer College studying Computer Science.[3][4] The platform aimed to support international students to access career opportunities in the United States of America.[5] Its beta-version launched in 2022,[3] and Vicezar featured in Forbes as a result.[6] The same year she became the first Paraguayan to work as an intern at Meta.[4][7] In 2023, whilst studying at University College Cork, Vicezar launched the podcast 'La Sociedad', whilst is the first podcast to record and share the experiences of Hispanic and Latin-American students in Ireland.[8]

In 2024 she represented Paraguay at the #Youth4Climate conference.[9]

Personal life

[edit]

Vicezar is originally from Asunción.[4] She credits much of her success abroad due to an early opportunity to learn English in the USA.[10]
