Aili Ikonen ( born Mai 20 1982 in Korpilahti) is a Finnish jazz singer, composer and lyricist. She performs as a soloist with her own band and with various orchestras and ensembles. Ikonen has been a member of the vocal group Rajaton since 2018.

Life and career

Ikonen comes from Korpilahti near Jyväskylä.

She started playing the violin at the age of five. In her final years at school, she discovered jazz and singing.

Beginning 1999 she was member of Korpi Ensemble .

2004 she finisched her studies at in Jyväskylä (Suomalainen konservatorio majoring in pop and jazz singing.

Aili Ikonen performs with the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchester.[1], Sinfonia Lahti[2], Norrbotten Big Band und dem Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra[3] auf.

In 2014, she completed her master's degree in Helsinki at Sibelius-Akatemia, majoring in jazz and folk music.

Work and awards

In 2004, Ikonen and the group Kvalda won the Scandinavian Young Nordic Jazz Comets Scandinavian Young Nordic Jazz Comets in Stockholm[4] competition in Stockholm.

Ikonen has been involved in numerous recordings since 2004.

In 2009, Ikonen appeared in a leading role in the virtual opera “Lovers of Mankind”, which combines jazz with modern art music.

2012 - 2013 Ikonen had the leading role in the musical Kristina från Duvemåla at Svenska teatern Kristina från Duvemåla im Svenska teatern in Helsinki.

Discography

2017 had a role in"Tähedet, tähedet" with 8 seasons in "Rakkauslaulut[5]" as herself [6]. 2022 she performed in "Kauneimmat joululaulut 50 vuotta" auf[7]. In the TV-series "Nallen talvi" with 15 episodes sang Aili Ikonen in the years 2018/2019 [8]. As musician she performed in"Birds in the earth" [9].
