The Fairfax R-III school districtis is a Pk-12 school district in Fairfax, Missouri [1]. The district operates an elementary school (Pk-6), and a High School (7-12) in one campus in Fairfax. The campus consists of a high school built in 1923, a gymnasium and elementary school built in 1956, and a technical building byilt in 1949. A combination football field and track are located across mainstreet accessible by a walking bridge. The current Superintendent is Nick Kemerling, and the principal is Jeremy Burright.
The Fairfax R-III school district was formed in 1951 with the merger of the Fairfax Independent School district,Daleview C-2 school district, Irish Grove C-5 school district, as well as 12 rural schools. The district initially operated elementary schools at Irish Grove, Daleview, Milton, and Elkdale. The Milton and Elkdale buildings were closed in 1955 and Irish grove and Daleview closed in 1960.
The school's mascot is the bulldog and the colors are green and white. The school entered into an all sports co op agreement with the Craig R-III school district in 2007. The first all sport co op agreement in the state. The boys teams participated as Craig Hornets and the girls teams participated as Fairfax Bulldogs. This agreement ended in 2014 due to low participation numbers. Fairfax then established a co op agreement with the Tarkio R-1 School district. The combined sports teams are known as the East Atchison Wolves and the colors are Orange and Black, an Homage to the former Westboro School District.
