Kencong is a sub-district in Jember Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. The geographical location of Kencong Sub-district is at an altitude of 0 meters above sea level to 12 meters above sea level.[1]

Kencong is located approximately 45 km southwest of Jember. This sub-district is crossed by the provincial route that connects Jember with Lumajang and Malang via the southern route and also as a road as an alternative route for the people of South Jember who want to go to Surabaya. In addition, Kencong (southern part) is also crossed by the South Cross Road (JLS) which connects Malang to Banyuwangi.

The southern part is a beach that has beautiful scenery, namely Paseban Beach. Paseban Beach is one of the beaches with the best spots to see the sunset in Jember along with Pancer Puger beach, because it is not blocked by a peninsula or hill. If the day is clear, the sunset view will be even more beautiful because from a distance Mount Semeru can be seen.

Kencong District is one of the important districts in the southwest/south region of Jember Regency because it is the center of the economic, agricultural and plantation areas in the GERBANGMASKU (Puger, Jombang, Gumukmas, Kencong, and Umbulsari) or the former Puger sub-district area.

Kencong District in the north borders Jombang and Umbulsari Districts. The western part borders part of Jombang District and Lumajang Regency. The southern part stretches out into wide open sea waters, while the eastern part borders the Gumukmas sub-district.
