Marwan Kaabour (born 1987) is a Lebanese graphic designer, artist and writer based in London.
Early life
[edit]Kaabour was born in Beirut. He described his family as "loving and supportive", his mother a painter and his father a musician and actor.[1] He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut in 2009. He subsequently relocated to London, where he pursued a Master of Arts (MA) at the London College of Communication.
Career
[edit]After completing his MA, Kaabour joined the design firm Barnbrook Studios as a designer and later senior designer. He designed Disobedient Objects, a companion book to the 2014 V&A museum exhibition of the same title,[2] and the graphics for the Daydreaming with Stanley Kubrick exhibition at Somerset House in 2016.[3] He headed the design of Rihanna's 2019 autobiography.[4]
In 2019 Kaabour founded the online initiative Takweer and in 2020, he opened his owned design studio.
Via Saqi Books, Kaabour edited and published his debut non-fiction book The Queer Arab Glossary in summer 2024. The book features illustrations from Palestinian artist Haitham (Charles) Haddad.
