Mykhailo Valeriiovych Semuniuk-Brunsky (born November 18, 1986, Zdolbuniv, Rivne Oblast) is a Ukrainian singer and composer, Honored Artist of Ukraine, professor, and honorary doctor of KNUTD. He is the author of the electro-rock opera Orpheus and Eurydice Forever and is an altino countertenor.

Biographical Data

Michael Brunsky was born on November 18, 1986, in Zdolbuniv, Rivne region.

From 1993 to 2001, he studied at Zdolbuniv Secondary School No. 6.

From 2001 to 2005, he attended Rivne Music College at Rivne State Humanitarian University, specializing in choral conducting. He graduated with honors.

From 2005 to 2008, he studied at the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts, earning a Master's degree in Music Arts.

From 2008 to 2009, he worked at the central office of Prominvestbank in Kyiv as a senior specialist in the multimedia-information department of the Public Relations Division.

From 2009 to 2016, he worked at the Association of Workers of Pop Music Art.

Since 2016, he worked at the Kyiv National University of Technology and Design as a cultural events organizer.

Since 2017, he has been working in Dubai, UAE, in the field of performing arts.^[1]

From 2018 to 2019, he worked as a soloist at Opera Dubai (Dubai Opera).

Since 2021, he has been working as an associate professor at the Department of "Performing Arts" at Kyiv National University of Technology and Design.

Creative and Professional Activities

In 2000–2001, as a soloist of the VIA "Youth" at the District House of Children and Youth, he became the absolute winner of the district and regional competitions of Ukrainian pop songs "Young Star" in performance and author nominations. He also won prizes at the "Autumn Fun Holidays" competition in Kyiv and the "Ukraine, My Star" competition in Donetsk.

For his high performance skills and stage culture in performing contemporary Ukrainian songs, he received a Certificate of Honor from the Department of Education of the Zdolbuniv District State Administration.

In 2001, he entered the Rivne Music College at the Rivne State Humanities University.
In 2003, at the age of 17, he signed his first sponsorship contract with JSC "Rivnegaz" for recording four original songs in a professional recording studio.
In 2005, he graduated from the Department of Choral Conducting with honors.

During his studies in Rivne, he actively participated in government and mass concerts in the region for four consecutive years.

At the age of 33, M. Brunskyi, in collaboration with O. Brunska, signed a contract with Dubai Opera. The project "Orpheus and Eurydice Forever" became international, with performances at the Dubai Opera in the UAE and in Abu Dhabi.
In 2019, the Electro-Rock Opera underwent a complete genre transformation to become Fantasy Opera, where actors interact with immersive video visuals. The updated project premiered at the Theater on Podil on December 26 and 27.
In 2020, the Fantasy Rock Opera "Orpheus and Eurydice Forever" was performed multiple times as a residency project at the Freedom Concert Hall in Kyiv.
In 2021, the project was invited to one of Europe’s largest opera festivals, "Operafest Tulchyn," in Tulchyn, where its performance concluded one of the festival’s days.
In 2021, he was awarded the academic title of Professor at the university.
In 2022, by the decision of the Academic Council of KNUTD, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor." This title has only been awarded 10 times in the 93-year history of KNUTD.
In 2023, he performed solo at the Dubai Opera during one of the largest festivals in the PRC — FAST WAY Gala.
On January 14, 2024, Mykhailo Brunskyi performed at the Dubai Opera, where, for the first time, a Ukrainian song was performed! "Mysterious Night, Deceptive Night" became so beloved by the audience that the most authoritative Arab media outlet Khaleej Times mentioned the performer in an article dedicated to celebrating 40 years of UAE-China relations.
