The Monypeny Family of Pitmilly in Fife, Scotland, were a large Scottish clan who owned the lands for 7 centuries.

Until the 20th century, the lands were still in the hands of The Monypeny’s, the last Monypeny to live in the estate was Charlton James Blackwell Monypeny, who sold the estate and its farms.

When the ancestors of the Monypeny family emigrated to the British Isles in the late 11th century, they carried on their family name. The first laird of Pitmilly was Richard Monypeny (or Moneypenny) (c. 1189 - 1211)[1] who acquired the land after moving up to Scotland.[2]

Notable descendants of the Monypeny family include,
Charlton Monypeny (c. 4 November 1867 – 11 March 1947)[3]

Isobel Monypeny (mother of David Beaton)
