The Murfreesboro Muslim Youth (MMY) is a nonprofit organization based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, dedicated to empowering Muslim youth and serving the broader community. MMY was founded following the brutal slaying of three wonderful Muslim youths (Deah, Yusor, and Razan) in Chapel Hill, NC (The three winners) in 2015.
It was also a direct outcome of the pushback against the building of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro in order to help our youth overcome the hatred and alienation they felt during that time, and show them how beautiful our community is.[1]
Mission and Vision
MMY's mission is to connect, develop, grow, and educate youth across all age groups through collaborative community service.
MMY's Vision is to provide our youth with opportunities to serve the community we live in, foster relationships with one another, and enhance the good nature in each one of them, all while developing a sense of pride in our Muslim identity.[2]
