Salahuddin Sumon (সালাহউদ্দিন সুমন) is a journalist-turned-YouTuber;[1] who creates captivating content on history, heritage, culture, and travel. Born on December 28, 1984, in Santahar, Bogra. He grew up in a middle-class family in Bogra alongside his parents and a sibling. Salahuddin Sumon earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Rajshahi.

Career

Salahuddin Sumon began his journalism career with Bhorer Kagoj (2005–2008) as a University Correspondent. He later joined Desh TV as a Divisional Correspondent (2008–2010), covering news across the Rajshahi Division and honing his skills in news reporting and investigative journalism.

In 2010, Salahuddin took on a significant role at Somoy TV, where he served as a Special Correspondent (2010–2021). Over his 11-year tenure, he covered high-profile events locally and internationally, contributing to the channel’s reputation for impactful reporting.

In 2021, he joined BBC Bangla as a Freelance Broadcast Journalist (2021–2022), delivering key national and international stories and further solidifying his global journalistic expertise.

Career Shift to Content Creation In 2022, he left BBC Bangla to embark on his journey as a Full time Content Creator ;[2]. Salahuddin transitioned from traditional journalism to full-time content creation. Leveraging his journalistic background and passion for travel;[3], he now focuses on producing documentaries that explore the cultural, historical;[4], and technological narratives of the destinations he visits. This career shift enables him to provide his audience with unique, immersive insights, enriching their worldview. Salahuddin Sumon's most popular video series is titled Descendants of Mir Jafar;[5]. He is also a writer and authored the book "Bhagirathi to Buriganga - ভাগীরথী থেকে বুড়িগঙ্গা";[6] which was published at the Ekushey Book Fair in 2022. Salahuddin Sumon received the Best Travel Vlog award;[7] at the prestigious Bangladesh Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2024 gala ceremony.
