Simon Ambrose Mathews (born September 24, 1995) is an American former pitcher and pitching coach for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was a pitcher in the Los Angeles Angels organization as a player and played college baseball at Georgetown Hoyas baseball and Temple.[1]
Playing career
[edit]Mathews spent three seasons as a pitcher in the Angels minor league system before retiring in 2019.
Coaching career
[edit]Mathews has worked for the Cincinnati Reds since 2021, having been the team's assistant coordinator of rehabilitation and pitching initiatives. On January 7, 2025, Mathews was named as an assistant pitching coach for the Reds.[2]
