The United Nations Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD) was established following the designation of the International Year of Youth (2010-2011[1])[2]. Initially, it operated as an informal Inter-Agency Group. To enhance coordination and effectiveness in addressing youth-related issues,[3] the group was formalized into a structured network. This move aimed to maximize the impact of the United Nations’ efforts in youth development and policy[1].[4][3]

The IANYD serves as the United Nations’ primary inter-agency coordination mechanism for youth matters[1].[5] Its mission is to improve the effectiveness of UN actions in youth development by fostering collaboration, promoting coherence, and enabling knowledge exchange among various UN entities[6]. The Network respects the unique mandates, strengths, and approaches of its members while working toward shared objectives[1].[7]
