Koaile Monaheng (born 15 November 1993) is a climate activist in Lesotho.[1][2] He is the associate director of Khantša Energy, a social enterprise co-creating clean energy solutions through indigenous knowledge by providing mobile solar power to rural communities in Lesotho.[3][4]
Early years
[edit]After attending Maseru Preparatory School and Machabeng College, where he completed his International Baccalaureate (IB). He pursued his higher education at Rhodes University, earning a BSci in Political and International Studies, followed by an Honors degree in International Studies.[5][6] In 2024, Koaile earned a Master of Philosophy in Climate Change and Development from the University of Cape Town.[7][8]
Career
[edit]In 2022 he was selected as one of 5 winners of the Mandela-Rhodes Foundation's Äänit Prize award for social impact.[9][10] In 2023 he appeared in the 'FORBES AFRICA 30 Under 30' Class of 2023, making history as the first Mosotho to be included on the Forbes Africa under 30 list.[11][12]
