List of Columbus Clippers seasons

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Clippers have played at Huntington Park since 2009.

The Columbus Clippers Minor League Baseball team has played in Columbus, Ohio, for 48 years since being established in 1977 as members of the International League (IL). The team has played 6,666 regular-season games and compiled a win–loss record of 3,543–3,123 (.532). The Clippers' best regular-season record occurred in 1992 when they finished 95–49 (.660). Conversely, their lowest record was 65–75 (.464) in 1977.

Since 1977, the Clippers have been the most successful team in the International League,[citation needed] compiling a 3,543–3,123 record through the 2024 season. The team has claimed eleven league titles, second only to Rochester's nineteen titles (including ten IL titles).[citation needed] Additionally, the Clippers secured two class titles (2010 and 2011). They have also captured twelve division titles, including three consecutive championships from 1990 to 1992 and from 2014 to 2016, along with one wild card playoff berth.

The Clippers have experienced one main period of failure. Between 1998 and 2009, the Clippers only appeared in the postseason twice and had only three winning seasons. For nine non-consecutive, seasons under Stump Merrill, their most successful manager,[citation needed] the Clippers made nine postseason appearances and won three division titles. In addition, Merrill and the Clippers competed in four International Championship games winning one, in 1996, and being runner-up three times: in 1985, 1990, and 1997.

Notes

[edit]
  1. ^ The 1981 playoffs were cancelled due to inclement weather. With a 2–1 series lead against Richmond, Columbus was declared the winner.
  2. ^ Columbus finished the 2015 season tied for first with the Indianapolis Indians, each with an 83–61 record. Per the International League's playoff procedures, the teams were declared co-champions of the Western Division, and the Clippers won the tiebreaker to be seeded as the division champion.[60][61]
