[edit]- 1844 – Cobble Hill Tunnel in New York City opens; it is now the oldest railway tunnel beneath a city street in North America.[1][2]
20th century
[edit]- 1901 – The 3.5-kilometre (2.2 mi) long first part of the Trondheim Tramway in Trondheim, Norway, is opened.[3]
- 1967 – The New York Central Railroad's 20th Century Limited is discontinued just before the railroad's merger with the Pennsylvania Railroad to form the Penn Central Transportation Company.
