The waters of Saleh Bay are also the habitat of Whale shark which is a special attraction for tourists and marine biota experts who want to experience the sensation of swimming with the giant fish. The animal is named Whale Shark because of its large whale-like size and its habit of filtering food. Based on data from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the Whale Shark is categorized as vulnerable to extinction. [1]

The bay, with an area of 1,459 square kilometers and a length of 282 kilometers, is one of the largest bays in Indonesia. By Looking at Migration Movements[2] Whale Shark, Saleh Bay, Sumbawa, is an ideal habitat, the almost 95% enclosed and shallow waters, as well as the abundant plankton, make this the perfect place to see Whale Sharks in their natural habitat.[3]
