Here's to Al!!

[edit]

What an amazing life!! There's a few holes left in his bio, and I hope with all of the recent work done in the last day plus since his death, we have done our best to add to his story. I've got two toronto newspapers looking for stories on his 1955-56 NHL debut as a Marlie Call up... Looking for the details on his trades, and linking to the respective teams season records.... a few gaps, feel free to add...and hopefully cite if my sources (other Wiki entreies!!) are needed. 205.189.94.88 (talk) 01:03, 8 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User_talk:205.189.94.88,
Editing Wikipedia can be fun but it also has rules. To understand what a reliable source is and how to insert inline citations, please read this page WP:REFB. I would also recommend, if you are a family member or close friend of Mr. MacNeil, check out these guidelines about conflict of interest WP:COI. Also, I would recommend that you register and get a Wikipedia account, because if your IP changes, you may not be able to edit articles. So, check WP:REGISTER Abebenjoe (talk) 07:02, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looking into issue with career coaching stats

[edit]

There seems to be an issue between two reliable sources regarding how many games MacNeil coached. The Calgary Herald claims he coached 349 games. Sports Reference claims 306 total games. Preliminary checking shows that his last three years add up to Sports Reference. Will continue to cross-check with period newspapers that have year-end standings and team records.– Abebenjoe (talk) 02:59, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mystery solved. Calgary Herald was total games, both regular season and playoffs, which makes sense, and will clarify in the article.– Abebenjoe (talk) 03:20, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
