Crap
[edit]SOmeone should say that this show is crap now.... As it is rather obvious that all the videos are from other countries, not australia (AUSTRALIAS funiest home videos my ass) and, and, and, they blur the date on the videos out, sou you cant tell that they are from 1987. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.208.75.157 (talk) 09:03, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- If you have nothing beneficial to ad please do not add nonesense to talk pages for articles. - Mike Beckham 09:51, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Though not benificial, He does have a point - The show is of markedly lower quality than it has been in the past, with up to 70% of the Videos in a show being from America's funniest home videos, and many of the Aussie videos being more then 10-15 years old. Churba 16:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, they show alot American content these days. - Mike Beckham 01:02, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
Commenters - There is actually less American content now that the show is one hour in length. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.48.107.240 (talk) 04:51, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Don't worry, they're even. AFV show videos from Australia. Cyberk204 23:43, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
In-video voice actor?
[edit]Does anyone know who does the voice acting in the show while the videos play? I keep thinking that the guy (named "David") was like Jim Cummings' long lost aussie brother.
PS: think he's the reason why this edition is more enjoyable than the american edition. The in-video captioning in the american edition is kinda......... I dunno, "lifeless". So much that i thought the ones doing the captioning were news anchors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kitetsu (talk • contribs) 09:14, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- The voice actor you're thinking of is David Gibson, a helluva funny man. He came on to the series around 2000 (I think). I don't recall the name of the voice over actor before that.

- He was also, notably, the voice of Smiths Crisps' Gobbledock
- And I just recalled the earlier voice-over guy: Danny McMaster

Rewrite
[edit]Um, how about an unopinionated re-write of the opening few sentences? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.45.99.68 (talk) 16:51, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
The Show's Name
[edit]Please someone change the name of this page from 'Australia's Funniest Home Video Show' to 'Australia's Funniest Home Videos' as that is what the program is now called. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.220.79.178 (talk) 22:44, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Australia's Funniest Home Video Show Logo.gif
[edit]Image:Australia's Funniest Home Video Show Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Lies!
[edit]Somebody should mention that despite the show being called "Australia's funniest home videos" they're mostly American and a whole lot of them have watermarks (or something) blurred out.
I would note this in the article but some Nazi will come along and defend the show to the death. Constan69 (talk) 08:53, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Silly me. Just noticed the above discussion. I agree with the unsigned comment (but I wouldn't recommend saying the show is "crap"). Constan69 (talk) 08:57, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]121.215.65.220 continuously vandalises this page. Can anyone do something about it? 124.168.228.228 (talk) 01:07, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
To the Toni vs Shelley vandal
[edit]Please stop. You've had your fun. Toni was the host, and now Shelley is the host. You might not like that, you might just be doing it for fun. You might be a few years behind the rest of us. But she's gone. So you should move on. Please stop. The-Pope (talk) 15:50, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Dead but not buried?
[edit]I have noticed that the show's page on Channel 9 has not been updated since 2011. Maybe the idea that one has to register for a hotmail account or do it by post is not so attractive. I do agree with some of the commentators that the contributions had lost a bit of bite the last times I saw it. Maybe fewer shows with higher quality would be better, but that presents its own problems, I guess, apart from there being youtube now which scoops up a lot. 144.136.192.79 (talk) 06:06, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

RfC: Closing songs table
[edit]
|
I would like to start a request for comment on the usage of a "closing songs" table in this article.
I originally removed the table on 30 December for several reasons, which I will go into detail about below. It was then reinstated on 1 January by who I believe is a sockpuppet of a long-term vandal on Wikipedia (I go into more detail about this vandal below). I then removed it again, mostly because of the Wikipedia guideline that states that edits from banned and blocked users can be reverted for any reason, but also because the IP user failed to give a reason why it should be kept. It was then reinstated today on 2 January by user NickHrvo (talk · contribs).
In order to not prolong an edit war and to prevent any violations of our three revert rule, I have decided to start this RfC.
There are a few reasons as to why I believe this table should be removed:
- It is largely unsourced, and likely to not be sourced in the future, due to the nature of the table. In particular, any sources would likely be the show itself. The show itself is a primary source, which are largely discouraged from use on Wikipedia.
- The unsourced nature of the table serves as an opening for hoaxes and vandalism. In particular, this table is frequently edited by the Teenage Fairytale Dropouts vandal, who is a long-term vandal of Wikipedia. They add songs to this table that are either hoaxes or difficult to verify.
- It is overly detailed and contains information likely to only be relevant to fans of this show. On Wikipedia, this information is called fancruft. A list of "closing songs" is simply unnecessary for the purpose of Wikipedia, which is to provide general information about many topics (including this show).
I will notify a few WikiProjects, along with NickHrvo, about this discussion so that they can participate if they so wish, and especially so NickHrvo can provide why he believes the table should be kept. wizzito | say hello! 05:42, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Remove; without even addressing the other points this is pure FANCRUFT. Good luck ever getting that table sourced, either. Kline • talk • contribs 19:59, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- Remove as a trivial detail for this kind of program (this isn't a music-focused program so it's pretty fancrufty). Though an RfC for this is probably a bit extreme – a regular discussion should have been tried first, with relevant WikiProjects notified if more participants are needed to find consensus. RunningTiger123 (talk) 01:16, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- I would normally agree with you, but this page is rarely constructively edited (besides the vandalism in question) and the TFD vandal in question has never discussed anything with anyone (see the LTA page). wizzito | say hello! 05:38, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
