Merger discussion
[edit]Should Department of Commerce Gold Medal, Department of Commerce Silver Medal, Department of Commerce Bronze Medal, and President's "E" Award all be merged into Awards and decorations of the United States Department of Commerce? Chetsford (talk) 22:03, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Support as proposer. Each of these articles is essentially a lightly paraphrased version of the official award's handbook with limited independent sources. They are, collectively, probably sustainable as an article but individually they're problematic. We typically deal with minor awards of this type en mass (e.g. Awards and decorations of the United States Department of the Navy, Awards of the United States Department of State, etc.). - Seconded per nominator; That said, the GM, SM, and BM pages are all decent. Further, most U.S. armed forces medals have their own page. I would suggest only merging the "'E' Award" into Awards and decorations of the United States Department of Commerce. Alternatively, creating a "Department of Commerce honor awards" article, and merging the GM, M, and BM into that article. Those awards are really not notable enough to justify their own pages, IMO. If you want to run some ideas/alternatives by me, I'm game. All that being said, I do believe there is justification for a total merger of all mentioned pages into the general DoC awards article.MWFwiki (talk) 05:36, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Since there's been no objection, I've performed the merge. Chetsford (talk) 22:32, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
