Is it even a genre?

[edit]

We have to keep in mind that "Phonk" is some ambiguous term. Many ave rejected the idea that Brazilian Phonk is a subgenre of phonk. I think we should address that. DreepyWiki (talk) 14:18, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I personally feel like it should not be regarded as phonk at all as it has absolutely no similarities with phonk. Phonk is a subgenre of hip-hop originating in the late 2000's-early 2010's, heavily influenced by 1990's Memphis rap and Houston chopped and screwed music. It is mainly a sample based genre, typically using samples from the two scenes i mentioned earlier and contemporary hip-hop music (such as vocal chops and drum loops), as well as funk, soul, jazz, vaporwave, video games, anime, etc, it may also use the chopped and screwed technique. Phonk music typically has a gritty, lo-fi aesthetic reminiscent of memphis rap. Brazilian "phonk" does NOT share any of these characteristics whatsoever, which is why it should not be referred to as phonk music. NWES333 (talk) 04:27, 31 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It shouldn’t have a Wikipedia page
