This page stated incorrectly that Dennis Herrera, the present incumbent City Attorney, is the first openly gay man to hold the post. This is incorrect; Herrera is married to Anne Herrera and they have a young son. I changed the sentence to say he's the first Latino City Attorney in San Francisco's history.
Dubious
[edit]San Francisco has consolidated government since its 1856 charter. Why would the city and county retain separate attorneys until 1899? Although ss. 4 to 9 of the 1856 charter vaguely suggest that any pre-existing city and county attorney might both continue in office till the end of their respective terms, Act 110 of 1862 explicitly provides for a single City and County Attorney; so does the 1895 Charter which replaced the 1856 charter. So I suggest the offices were combined some time between 1856 and 1862. jnestorius(talk) 19:31, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
