I created this article in the hope of providing a clear distinction between Donut Day, a Salvation Army event held since 1938 to honour women who served doughnuts in WWI, and National Donut Day, which seemed to arise this year and with no apparent link to the Salvation Army or any women serving in any war.

Although they fall on the same day, the motives for the two days seem to be completely different.

The Salvation Army has never laid claim to a National Donut (or Doughnut) Day. DeuceBigalowMD (talk) 19:35, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
