The title should be changed to "January 2025 Gulf Coast Blizzard"

[edit]

The NWS has issued blizzard warnings for several counties along the gulf coast. There are also reports of Blizzard conditions in many parishes around south louisiana Cajundome24 (talk) 16:06, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Done – Was considering doing this earlier but hesitated unless someone raised the question. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 16:09, 21 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Let's add a prediction section I have documentation and about 40,000 witnesses that I predicted something like this to happen 9 days in advance even had the low along to Gulf and compared it to the Blizzard of '93 9 day s in advance.
My name is Matt I am a private practicing GS 1340 operational meteorologist. Let's add this to the post. but about the name
Yes it should be called a blizzard bc there were blizzard conditions, but NO enzo!
Here are my recommendations.
Deep South Blizzard '25
Gulf State Blizzard '25
Southeast Blizzard '25
there were more areas affected than coastal environments some of the heaviest snow fell in south GA/AL and along the Atlantic coast, which isn't the Gulf coast.
Not to mention New Orleans isn't Gulf Coast facing.
Thanks

January 20–22, 2025 Gulf Coast blizzard2025 Gulf Coast blizzard – This is what the event will likely be remembered and more searched as in the future, unless somehow another blizzard occurs this year. AnotherWeatherEditor (talk) 22:15, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Wait until March or April. As an alternative until spring, I would support January 2025 Gulf Coast blizzard. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 00:04, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wait until winter ends. Unknown if another one will hit. (Why does autocorrect automatically capitalize Blizzard)
Of note, the current(+PNA) pattern is associated with lower temperatures in the area, but still no guarantee. Currently also in a -NAO although forecast to go to +NAO, which is associated with warmer temperatures. Wildfireupdateman :) (talk) 23:05, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, it's too soon to call. Rager7 (talk) 01:59, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I say we change it, this was a very historic winter storm, and with its location being in the Gulf Coast, it dropped lots of snow to cities that don’t see them. StormHunterBryante5467 (talk) 16:00, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
