Name change

[edit]

The Edo Museum of West African Art has updated it's name to the Museum of West African Art (MOWAA)- https://www.emowaa.com/ 197.255.255.254 (talk) 21:04, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

1. MOWAA's website is consistent in not including 'Edo' in its name. Should this article's name be changed and 'Edo' removed?
2. This article describes a new building designed by David Adjaye, but MOWAA's website does not mention this. Is this article about a building on;y, or about the wider MOWAA as described on its 'about' page (centre of excellence, preservation, display, research, learning)?
Can someone please clarify? Masato.harada (talk) 14:54, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll rename but for those curious:

MOWAA was, until last year, known as EMOWAA, but it has dropped the ‘Edo’ from its name – partly, as Ihenacho tells me, to play down its associations with the Edo State government, but also to emphasise that the museum’s remit goes far beyond its ancestral home, contextualising the culture of Benin within the broader region of West Africa.
