Too much information
[edit]I suggest removing the entire section beginning "Examples of variations of the verse". Giving an endless list of variations is unnecessary, unencyclopaedic, difficult to read, and openly invites anyone to come along and add their pet variation to the list. I would have removed it myself, but when I tried I got a warning saying that if other people disagree with my deletion I may be banned from editing Wikipedia. :( 91.107.184.177 (talk) 23:25, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree WP articles are the place for notable information and not endless lists of ephemeral trivia, but what we are dealing with here is a piece of ever-changing folklore and I seriously doubt if there are peer-refereed citable empirical studies that rise to the level of Reliable Source on a canonical text of the Battle Hymn of the Brats. I would suggest moving alternate versions to Talk for discussion about the article, not removing entirely: Fahrenheit 451, temperature of the Memory Hole. Hey, teach, leave em kids alone. I remember this version no later than my fifth grade (which would make it before 1959); oh, the glorious memories of my school daze.
Mine eyes have seen the glory Of the burning of the school We have tortured every teacher We have broken every rule We have beaten up the principal And kicked him outta school Us brats go marching on! Glory glory how pecul-yer Teacher hit me with a rul-yer I conked her on the bean With a rotten tangerine Us brats go marching on!
