Give it a fishfinder
[edit]Don't ridicule this suggestion. Although it's a longshot that macroscopic organisms might swim in the liquid beneath the Titan Mare Explorer, fishfinders are inexpensive, low-power devices. So why take the chance of missing out on a great discovery? Novel compound (talk) 21:15, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Because the low temperature, vibration and radiation would fry it soon after launch. And yes, it will have a radar but not from Walmart.BatteryIncluded (talk) 23:00, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Fishfinders use sonar, not radar. I suspect sonar would work better than radar in a body of hydrocarbon liquid, just as it does in water. I don't think the author of this section was proposing using an off-the-shelf unit from Walmart; however, an off-the-shelf design would be a good starting point, and then the instrument vendor could upgrade any component not rugged enough for the space environment. 75.163.218.136 (talk) 19:38, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
- Probably not the optimum method of finding life. Very likely there is only microbial life. And if there are some sort of Titanian trout, the microbes will also be there. Kortoso (talk) 01:27, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

- Maybe the power plant will be available in a few years, but the 2015 launch window was lost, and I think the next one will be in 2026. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 21:21, 18 March 2016 (UTC)
