No consensus to move. The redirect can be changed at Treaty of Rome. I'll leave it to those more involved to do that and to add any hat notes as needed. Vegaswikian (talk) 18:55, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Treaty of Rome (disambiguation) → Treaty of Rome — Treaty of Rome may refer to any of four treaties that have been signed in Rome (Italy). 07:22, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- Comment: Borderline IMO. The 1957 Treaties of Rome are what most people would think of as the Treaty of Rome. Either the redir from Treaty of Rome should point there (not to the DAB as at present), with a hatnote, or we should do the move as proposed, and put the DAB at the undisambiguated name. No vote as yet. Andrewa (talk) 01:06, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose and instead point Treaty of Rome to Treaties of Rome. Of the items listed on the dab page, I doubt either the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court or the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe is commonly referred to as "Treaty of Rome". The Treaty of Rome (1924) is dwarfed in terms of notability by the treaties establishing the forerunner of the European Union. Ucucha 03:17, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose per Ucucha, who has made the arguments against this move. Another alternative would be to split Euratom Treaty (making it an article on the Treaty itself, rather than a redirect to the resultant institution) out of Treaties of Rome and move it to Treaty of Rome. - Make Treaty of Rome the dab First, it is horrible, horrible style to have an ArticleTitle redirect to ArticleTitle (disambiguator), completely superfluous per wp:precise. Second, there are too many EU treaties (and the ICC also) that can be easily confused with each other for any of them to have the title. walk victor falk talk 22:09, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- and delete "Treaty of Rome (disambiguation)" of course. walk victor falk talk 22:11, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose I tend to agree with Andrewa. Most people think of Treaties of Rome when they come across the term Treaty of Rome, to the extent that it is the clear primary use of the term. Treaty of Rome should therefore redirect to Treaties of Rome. Treaty of Rome (disambiguation) should probably stay where it is, with a hatnote on Treaty of Rome referring to the disambiguation page. Alternatively, the disambiguation page could be dispensed with, and a multiple use hatnote used instead. Skinsmoke (talk) 12:13, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
