Harrison Storm (born 1992)[1] is a Melbourne-based indie-folk singer-songwriter.[1] Two of his songs, "Change It All" and "Be Slow", were certified Gold by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).[2]
Early life and education
[edit]Storm grew up in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Growing up he was influenced by the music of Neil Young, City and Colour, Ben Howard and Jeff Buckley.[3] Other early influences include the Beatles, Angus & Julia Stone, and author Jack London.[4]
He studied civil engineering at university but he decided to drop out after being introduced to the Melbourne music scene.[1]
Music career
[edit]Storm began his music career busking on the streets of Melbourne.[1] After two years, in April 2015, he independently released his debut EP, Sense of Home.[1] Recorded in late 2014 at Hayden Calnin's home studio, the EP was produced by Calnin.[3] The title track caught the attention of Terry McBride, CEO and co-founder of Nettwerk Music Group, which led to Storm signing with the label and the subsequent re-release of the EP.[4]
In 2017, Storm released his first single, "Change It All", as part of an EP of the same name.[4] The single was certified Gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) in 2024.[2] This was followed by the Falling Down EP in June 2019, which featured the singles "Feeling You" and "Run".[4] In 2020, he released another EP, Be Slow, preceded by four singles: "You & I", "Be Slow", "Breathe Again" and "Sea and Fire".[4] The title track, "Be Slow", was also certified Gold by ARIA in 2024.[2]
In 2022, Storm collaborated with fellow Melburnian Enna Blake on the EP Under Dusk, whose title track received airplay on Triple J and BBC Radio 2.[4] In April 2023, he released the single "Warm a Cold Heart", the first track from his debut album, Wonder, Won't You?, which was released in January 2024.[4]
