Hello and welcome. I'm Shelby. I am an active Wikipedian from Kentucky.
This page is to keep track of the articles I have created. The articles I have made major contributions to but did not create are not included...
Though here are some if you're interested:
- Pedagogy of the Oppressed
- Women's suffrage in Alabama
- African histoplasmosis,
- Fungus-growing ants
- Contemporary Native American issues in the United States
- Women in Ghana
- List of The Daily Show recurring segments
- January–February 2019 North American cold wave
- Black American Sign Language
- Marianismo
- Martin County coal slurry spill
- Cancer in cats
It may be obvious that much of what I edit is unrelated. This is due to me writing about whatever is interesting to me day-to-day. Usually this means I am simply adding what I am already reading to Wikipedia. However, sometimes I will select a physical encyclopedia or academic text specifically to disseminate its knowledge onto the site.
I am a Wikipedia editor mostly because I am an autodidact who loves to share what I learn. Wikipedia is a wonderful space for infodumping-- all it asks is that one cites their sources. The cite is so receptive, in fact, that I tinker on Wikipedia the way many do in their garage. Wikipedia also allows me to practice what I preach. Finally, it's very satisfying to give form to my thoughts where people will see it. All around good, nerdy fun.
Through editing, I have practiced scientific communication, independent research, a bit of coding, and plain ol' writing skills. Though, it hasn't felt like work. It's just an enjoyable way to pass time. Wikipedia editing is the hobby that gives back to you. I recommend it to anyone who likes something. Anything. It does not matter what. Just take what you know and share it with others.
