From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia!!! First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting Wikipedia and my personal page. I'm a native speaker of English, and love reading fantasy books; may I introduce some to you? The Dragonlance series, Shannara series, and Animorphs are my favourites. Anyway, I hope that Wikipedia will become an even better encyclopedia than it is already.

I just came back from a very long Wikibreak; so I just want to let you Wikipedians know that somewhere out there, I'm still alive. That means you're free to ask me any questions, or contact me about anything (and everything). I'm still open for coaching, so send me a message if you need a coach. If you want someone else for whatever reason, look here. I'm only free on weekends though, so I won't be able to respond to your messages that quickly. And my autograph page is still up and running, so don't hesitate to add your siggie in there! And I have a couple (only a couple, I'm afraid...I'm too lazy to make more =)) of cards that I've made featured here; take a look! Well, that's all I guess. Cheers and a happy new year to you! Zacharycrimsonwolf 08:29, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Edit: I am no longer active on Wikipedia (as a User, at least) so I'm afraid I can't answer questions from anyone - I suggest that you try looking for an active User around the site if you really need help. When all else fails, moderators, admins, even the Community Portal on your left will work. See you around!

Earth
Earth is the third planet from the Sun and the only astronomical object known to harbor life. It is the densest planet in the Solar System and the largest and most massive of its four rocky planets. About 29 percent of Earth's surface is land, with the remaining 71 percent covered with water and much of Earth's polar regions covered in ice. Earth's interior is active with a solid-iron inner core, a liquid outer core that generates Earth's magnetic field, and a convective mantle that drives plate tectonics. Earth formed more than 4.5 billion years ago. Within the first billion years of Earth's history, life appeared in the oceans and began to affect Earth's atmosphere and surface. Since then, the combination of Earth's distance from the Sun, its physical properties and its geological history have allowed life to evolve and thrive, including more than 8 billion humans as of 2024. Earth is orbited by one permanent natural satellite, the Moon, which orbits Earth at a radius of 384,400 km (238,900 mi) and is roughly a quarter as wide as Earth. This photograph of Earth straddling the lunar horizon was taken in 2015 by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter while located 134 km (83 mi) above the crater Compton, visible in the foreground. To capture the image, the spacecraft had to be rolled 67 degrees to its side, and slewed with the direction of travel to maximize the width of the lunar horizon, while traveling more than 1600 m/s (3600 mph) relative to the surface.Photograph credit: NASA / Goddard Space Flight Center / Arizona State University; edited by Bammesk
Tip of the day...
"Where to begin?"

On Wikipedia, you can look things up by searching or browsing... If you know what topic you want, type it into Wikipedia's search box and press Enter

If you would like to explore Wikipedia's coverage, overall, or for a particular subject, browse these pages:

If you would like to edit Wikipedia, just click the [Edit] tab (to use VisualEditor which is a WYSIWYG editor) or click the [Edit source] tab to use the Wikipedia text editor. Both tabs are at the top of the desired page or page section.

To create a new article, type the name of the topic in the search box and press Enter. If a page doesn't already exist with that name, Wikipedia will let you create one. Follow the instructions on the screen. As an alternative, the Wikipedia Article Wizard helps you through the process of submitting a new article to Wikipedia. Redlinks are another way to create new articles. Mouse click on the red link and Wikipedia will let you create a new article with that name.
