Forest High School shooting page

I saw your edit on the Forest High School page and it got me thinking: should we make a page surrounding the shooting? There's enough info to have it's own page, including the shooter, his motifs, sentence, student interviews, officially released body-cam footage, Bouche reportedly attacking a guard in March 2020, and more. I don't know how to make a page, but should we do it? CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 02:14, 29 August 2024 (UTC)

@CMBGAMER 2018: You might want to take a look at this 2018 discussion on the article's talk page, which concluded there was weak consensus for inclusion in the school article itself, meaning, at least back then, it would have an even lower chance of qualifying for an article. I'm not sure what has changed since then, but you're free to give it a shot if you think the event has had some lasting impact or coverage in some way, per Wikipedia:Notability (events). I highly suggest going through Help:Your first article, which has some guidelines and suggestions on how to create your first article. Let me know if you have any other questions! Vince Guaraldi headshot

Hello. I am seeking clarification regarding the current headshot being used for Vince Guaraldi. The image presently in use appears to be a grainy, black-and-white photo from a college newspaper. While it may be in the public domain, it does not seem appropriate for a professional headshot. Could you kindly explain why a higher-quality alternative, such as the formal headshot (which I believe is also in the public domain), cannot be used instead? I would appreciate your insight on this matter. Thank you for your attention to this request. Wk3v78k23tnsa (talk) 03:37, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Wk3v78k23tnsa, according to the Wikipedia:Non-free content guidelines, copyrighted material should be used extremely sparingly and only when there isn't a free alternative. In this case, we have two known public domain photographs (File:Vince Guaraldi in 1946, Lincoln High School Yearbook.png and File:Vince Guaraldi plays at TGIF party - 1963 Franciscan (cropped).jpg) that could be used. In regard to the image you uploaded, I've tracked down the original source and it seems like it is still in copyright. This means if you wanted to use it, you would provide a non-free use rationale demonstrating that no free alternatives could be found, and why it should be used over existing free photographs of Guaraldi. In the meantime, I'll keep an eye out for any other free photographs of him that can be used. Thanks, Yeeno (talk) 05:16, 12 September 2024 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Ken the EP cover.jpg

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete or generic. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact source (such as the web page, or printed document) where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain, search engine, pinboard, aggregator, or the direct/bare URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. — Ирука13 06:42, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
