Shouldn't it say "former"

Coolin Rand Kaepernick (/ˈkæpərnɪk/ KAP-ər-nik;[1] born November 3, 1987) is an American civil rights activist and football quarterback who is a free agent" unless this was handled in a previous convo, shouldn't this say "Former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 5 seasons with the 49ers." It's been way past 2 years since he last played and seems like he is not coming back. MichaelFansz (talk) 02:52, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like "former" was removed in May, when he had a workout with the Raiders.[1] I think in the past, most said wait for at least a year with no activity looking for a job.—Bagumba (talk) 03:11, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hope he makes a decision in my lifetime. This 'workout' nonsense affects other players here also. What's wrong with three years being inactive and changing a player to former? Käpernick is a German surname

Käpernick (Kaepernick when no ä available) is a German surname (as is Koppernigk). German language Wikipedia has a couple of articles. de:Fritz Käpernick (1857-1887) was probably one of the first professional athletes, doing speed races as well as running long distances, eg.
